The Family Ramen

My family is a food-loving one. Our best moments together are characterized by slurping and lip-smacking and involuntary noises of satisfaction (I’m talking about you Greg). So it’s only fitting that our gift to ourselves this year was a three day ramen-making endeavor led by our very own Master Kenny, my cousin.

In spite of the long and arduous process or perhaps because of it, it is one of my favorite Christmas events in recent memory. We laughed, we cried, we went on spontaneous bubble tea runs (you know, to stay hydrated). And after this experience I have learned something most important when making ramen. Making it alone would be near impossible. Making it with someone you don’t like very much would be unbearable. So make it with people you love.

Girls Trip in Nashville

I am a big fan of domestic travel right now. It’s time we Americans show some gratitude for the vast and diverse landscape that we inhabit. Wanderlust can be cured in our backyard for a lot less than a European tour or soul-searching excursion in South America. Less time, less money, less planning. It’s a triple win.

Me and some of my oldest friends decided to take a girls trip together. We are spread out in the corners of the country representing Texas, New York, and California, so we met in a semi-central location: Nashville, Tennessee.

Donuts Are So In

I don’t quite understand how these food trends rise and fall. I mean donuts have been around forever. And they have always been widely regarded as delicious. But why are they suddenly “trendy”? Was I born before my time by appreciating donuts too early? I am not a trendsetter. I’m not even a trendfollower. I am a trendlaggard. I don’t notice that it’s trending until it’s on its way down. So it will be no surprise to you that donuts are apparently hip now. I myself only put the pieces together a few weeks ago.

Strawberry Rhubarb Pie: An Essential for Your Summer Cookout

Pie is my favorite food in the whole world. Out of all the pies, strawberry rhubarb is my favorite. Therefore, Strawberry Rhubarb Pie is my favorite food in the world. Now that we have that out of the way, let me explain why you must include this is any cookout spread. First of all, it’s delicious, and second of all, why not? It’s hard to argue with the logic of a madman so just make the pie and thank me later.
